Primary Research: Consumer Surveys

Consumer research is a key component for determining preferences and attitudes of potential home buyers. Fulton Research has conducted major national and regional consumer surveys for years. A number of the studies were carried out in conjunction with Builder Magazine and the National Association of Homebuilders. Our recent survey in the Washington-Baltimore area titled “Today’s Home Shopper”, provides guidelines for land planning, home design, pricing and promotion.
Test marketing projects and product lines are valuable exercises. Focus groups provide qualitative insights and should be followed by consumer surveys of prospects within the market area for quantified responses. Knowledge gained during this process can prevent costly mistakes prior to construction and can also generate a number of quality prospects.
